Half Moon Bay

there’s nothing that i love more than a beautiful
trip to the coast and, as the weather has gotten much nicer, i was
able to take a wonderful trip down half moon bay.

when going down the coast, my family has a few places that
we always have to stop at.

the first place we always stop is the pigeon point lighthouse. growing up,
we would always go to lighthouses when at the coast,
but once we moved to the bay area, there were less lighthouses to see.
once we started going to pigeon point, we made it one of our usual
stops because we loved it so much.

another little gem that we have discovered is the swanton berry farm.
here they have fields where you can pick your own berries,
a cute shop with local finds, and fresh made desserts and fruit from fruit
grown right there on their farm. their desserts are always delicious and taste of
homemade, fresh grown heaven.

lastly, the pie farm is a little shop that we’ve seen countless times in
passing, but had yet to try.  we stopped by and took a look around and it was
lovely.  there is a sweet little sitting area, fresh and local produce, and
more homemade little pastries.

Telegraph

recently, i had a visit to berkely’s telegraph to drop off some books that I had
checked out from gtu for a paper for school.  it was about 11 and we
had yet to eat breakfast, so we decided to make a stop at crepes a-go-go
for some mid-morning brunch. it was a bit small and a little tight,
but the shop itself was very cute and you could see the crepes being made and
the little tables and chairs made it feel much like a little café.
we ordered and sat down at the table and i instantly fell in love with the place
upon reading the small note on the bottom of the receipt

so cute!
when the crepes came to our table, we were not disappointed.  everyone got
different fillings in their crepes so it was quite the treat getting to try all of them
yum!

spinach, tomato, mushrooms, chicken, and swiss

i really loved crepes and the little shop and plan on going again and try one
of their sweet choices.

we went again this weekend to pick up a coat i had fallen in love with at
mars mercantile. every time we’ve gone to telegraph, we have
tired a new little restaurant and have yet to be disappointed.  this week
we tried a little pizza place – which i failed to get pictures of as i was starving.

We walked around a bit and got to check out some of the shops and thrift
stores we haven’t gotten to check out yet.  i never realized how affordable the
stores and restaurants are on telegraph ave! all of the clothing shops and
thrift stores were incredibly well priced and we got quite a few wonderful steals.

growing tired and having decided we walked off our delicious dinner, we
made a quick stop at our favorite ice cream shop, cream.
the cookies are always warm and the ice cream always delicious and it hit the
spot after an afternoon of exploring and shopping.

The Legend of Squaw Rock

beautiful squaw rock

whenever my family would go on a day trip to the city

or to santa rosa and a kid, we would pass squaw rock.  as far back as i can

remember, i have been told the legend of squaw rock and it has been

one of my favorite legends. during my recent trip to

mendocino, i was finally able to stop and get a lovely picture of

the rock and thought to share the story with you all here.

the legend tells of a beautiful indian princess who fell in love

with an indian warrior, a love forbidden by her father.  one day, the warrior was

tragically killed in battle, never to return to his princess.

when the princess heard word of his death, she ran away and threw herself

from a cliff so she could finally be with her beloved.

Mendocino Weekend

this weekend i was able to take a quick trip to the vast, beautiful
nature of mendocino county with my family.

(for those of you who have never been, i highly recommend going given the opportunity)

i was born and raised in mendocino county and going for a visit was
a nice break from the hustle and bustle of the bay area.
the trees and mountains were refreshing scenery for this country girl,
even if it was night for a majority of the time we were there.

my favorite part of the trip, apart for visiting my family, was the stop in cloverdale
where we ran across the sculpture trail put up by the cloverdale art alliance.
the sculptures were amazing and quite unexpected
whilst driving along the freeway.
I have tried to capture a few, but only had my phone on me.

the exhibit is going to be up until may 8, and i strongly suggest going
and checking it out if you are in the area or are looking for a
small day trip.

14 things for 2014

hello all!
i have always wanted to make a blog.
i love reading blogs to see peoples adventure, be inspired by
others adventures and see different views and perspectives
that are different from my own.
there are many things that i have been wanting to do,
places i want to see, and things that i have wanted to experience
for quite some time now that i have never gotten the
chance to, be it because of being scared, or thinking my dreams to
be to big or too silly.
this year, i've decided to make them all happen.
i've decided to take this year and live it to the fullest
and find my wings.
i have made a list of 14 things that i am going to do in 2014.
some of these things may seem a bit silly or random,
but these 14 things are things that have been writ upon my heart
that i have decided to do this year.
so, here’s my list:
get healthy
go all natural
start a blog
make YouTube videos
travel to a new country
take a trip alone
write poetry
make a collection of short stories
make art daily
do prophetic evangelism
read 100 books
play the guitar
take more photos
get tattoos
so here we all are, #3, on the very first blog post
on my very own blog.
i have one down, 13 to go and i am so excited for this new year
and i can’t wait to share my adventures
my writing, my photography and my heart with you all here.
